Title: The Plan

James Lester had a plan.
Involving getting drunk enough to forget what was coming up the following day.
It was inspired plan until half way through his second expensive ale (he wasn't going to waste the good scotch) he concluded that spending his birthday alone without anyone knowing would be torture enough without an added hangover.
Arriving early, he'd worked himself up into being suitably irritated by the universe in general, taking extra delight when various underlings stepped out of his way as he for his office.
And found it full of people with a birthday cake on his desk.
