Sunlight.
He sat up with a start. He had a seminar this morning. Glancing at the clock he swore loudly. He was late!
Nick stumbled out of bed, stubbing his toe on the way. He tore through his closet, looking for some clean clothing that was presentable enough to wear to work.
“Where the fuck are my shoes?”
“Nick?”
“Stephen, I’m late!”
“Calm down. The Dean rang. There was a burst water main, so the university is closed. Your seminar has been cancelled.”
Nick sagged.
“And I remembered today, too.”
