Lester surveyed the sorry-looking soldiers in the sickbay with concern masked by irritation. He read from the clipboard. "Bruises, sprains, grazes, black eye, broken arm, concussion." He paused. "Who was that?"

Blade, of the black eye answered: "Lyle, sir. He's in hospital. He'll be fine."

"Did anyone escape unwounded?"

"They were two male doedicrurus," Cutter answered. His left arm was in a sling. "Think four meter long armadillos with morning-star tails. They were fighting."

"Mortar-fire barely got their attention," Ryan said, holding his shoulder.

"Next time we'll nuke them from orbit," Finn said. "It's the only way he be sure."
