Hardly Human

Title : Hardly Human
Author : freddiejoey
Fandom : Primeval
Rating : G
Characters : Helen
Disclaimer : All done for fun
Spoilers : None
Warning : Mad Helen feels happy.

Summary: Written for challenge 284 'Future Predator'

Helen sees her first future predator from where she crouches behind the rusty shell of a car.

Heart hammering.

Breath coming in heaving gasps.

Amid the bleak cataclysm of tomorrow.

A normal human being could well have been terrified by this ferocious sight – but then Helen is not really all that normal.

Really, hardly human at all if we’re being brutally honest………

Slowly, Helen smiles.

Her mind already wheeling with heady schemes.

The future predator sniffs the limp corroded air.

Discerning another lurking presence close by……….

Like senses like: a void where empathy should dwell.

And the predator moves on.

I don't know whether to be more scared of the predator or of Helen. Very eerie. Nice job!

Just a note, if you could can you keep all the header section outside of a cut? People like to know what they're getting into before they click on a link. Thanks :)
