Title : This Is Not A Drill
Author : May (rain_sleet_snow)
Fandom : Primeval
Rating : PG
Characters : Nick, Claudia
Challenge: 98, Fire
Disclaimer : Not mine, no money made, don’t sue.
Spoilers : Could be implied for 1.06?
A/N : Based on my idea that Claudia!Nick went through the wrong anomaly, one to the S2 no-Claudia!world, instead of back to his own world. The Nick from that world also went through an anomaly to the Permian with Captain Ryan, but the Nick from that world was killed instead, and that-world Ryan went through the wrong anomaly as well, this one to Claudia!world. So he had no knowledge of Claudia, but –not being aware that he’d swapped worlds- he was able to tell her that Nick was dead. It makes a lot more sense in my head, and is probably not necessary to understand the drabble.
It was like a fire-drill, Claudia thought to herself.
She remembered fire-drills at boarding school, filing neatly out of classrooms in that strange kind of controlled hurry designed to get people from A to B in time to avoid a disaster.
But as she went through the motions in this uncomfortably new Anomaly Research Centre, Connor’s Anomaly Detector blaring (and why had he made the siren so ear-splitting?), and there was one thing missing that made it unlike any fire-drill she’d ever known: it was totally unfamiliar to her.
She rather thought that the problem was that Nick wasn’t there.
