Challenge #6 In the bedroom
Summary Bedtime in the Lester household

Sir James Lester quickly changed out of his sharp suit and into something more comfortable, before hurrying along to his children's room. He hated it when his work kept him out past their bedtime.

He was just in time today. Tucking them in, he kissed them both goodnight before settling into his favourite chair and opening his book. Smiling at the familiar words, he cleared his throat and began, his low voice weaving a spell in the darkness.

“Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.”

Challenge #2 Lost
Summary The ARC can be confusing if you're new

Captain Becker knocked and then opened the door, jumping to one side as he was nearly buried in an avalanche of mops, brooms and brushes.

He blushed at the slightly amused sound of someone clearing their throat behind him.

“I see the special forces continue their tradition of hiring people with the navigational skills of a camel at the north pole.” Lester smirked and pointed. “Professor Cutter's office is the second door on the left, not the right.”

“I, uh...”

Lester chuckled. “Jon ended up in the ladies' changing rooms on his first day. Although, that may have been deliberate.”

Challenge #45 The ARC
Summary Lyle and Ryan get their first look at the new builkding

Ryan looked up at the glass and metal monstrosity that would serve as the headquarters for the newly established Anomaly Research Centre. “Well, it's um...” He struggled to find a diplomatic description.

Lyle snorted and looked at Lester. “If I didn't know better I'd think you were compensating for something, honey.”

Lester rolled his eyes. “It was available, needed minimum remodelling, and it's in a central location. I'm sorry if it offends your sense of aesthetics, but it's architectural merits weren't on my list of priorities when I selected it.”

“I can tell,” Ryan muttered.

Lester sighed. “Everyone's a critic.”

Challenge #1 Introductions
Summary Becker's first day

Captain Becker accepted his security pass and official ARC ID and waited in the reception area to see who would be sent down to meet him.

Who they sent to greet you said a lot about how seriously the management took security. If they sent a secretary then you were doomed to be ignored until after things had gone badly wrong. The man in the suit striding towards him definitely wasn't a secretary. Becker stood up, barely resisting the urge to salute.

“Captain Becker? I'm Sir James Lester.” The man offered his hand with a smile. “Welcome to the ARC.”

Title Unwelcome Visitor
Fandom Primeval
Characters Becker, Rex

Word Count 100
Challenge #4 Rex
Summary Becker comes face to face with Rex

Becker blinked and shook his head, wondering if he'd eaten something that was causing him to hallucinate, but when he opened his eyes it was still there. It was grinning at him. He rubbed his hand over his face, jumping when the thing chirped curiously at him and then alighted on his desk. That was closer than he wanted it to be really, but he suspected a firm 'shoo' wasn't going to work. This job got stranger by the day.

He picked up the phone and called for help. “Cutter … there's a lizard on my desk, dancing to my music.”

Title News
Fandom Primeval
Characters Nick, Iain Cutter (OC)

Word Count 100
Challenge #110 Big Brother
Summary Nick has some news for his brother

Nick picked up the phone and dialled.

“Nick? Is there something wrong?”

“I don't only call with bad news.”

“No you don't normally call at all. We have to call you.”

“Well if you don't want to hear my news …”

“Ach, spit it out, you insufferable man.”

“I wanted you to be the first to know. Stephen and I are getting married.”

“At last! It's about time you made it official.”

“You'll be my best man again?”

“You bet and this time you have to wear the Cutter tartan. I bet Stephen would love to see you in a kilt.”

Challenge #5 Moonlight
Summary Sometimes the past can be awesome

Stephen stepped through the anomaly and gasped. Although it was daylight where he'd come from, here it was the middle of the night. But it wasn't dark. There was a large, bright moon, hanging low in the sky and the black velvet of the night was studded with hundreds of stars. The last time he'd seen this many stars he'd been in the middle of the desert, digging for fossils. Back home there was just too much artificial light to see the stars the way they were meant to be seen. He looked around him in awe – it was beautiful.

Title Mess

Challenge #15 Oops
Summary Lester has to put up with a lot

Lester stalked into his office and slammed the door behind him. Stripping efficiently he put his suit in a plastic bag, ready to be sent to the cleaners. It was a good thing he kept spare clothing at the office and even better that his dry cleaner was a miracle worker. So far they'd never failed to return a suit in pristine condition, no matter what state it had been in when it was dropped off. He wondered what they thought the stains were.

If Abby didn't house train Rex soon, Lester was going to send her his cleaning bill.

Title Fencing

Characters Ryan, Stringer

Challenge #9 Star Wars
Summary Ryan and Stringer and a sword fight

As Ryan flourished his sword, someone made a whooshing sound from the sidelines, as if he'd just ignited a lightsaber. He rolled his eyes but kept his attention on his opponent.

Stringer chuckled. “Is this where I say 'Luke. I am your father?'”

Ryan laughed and Stringer took advantage of it to lunge. Just because he was laughing, didn't mean he wasn't paying attention though and Ryan blocked him easily, brushing his sword aside and nearly getting a hit of his own.

“I'd rather be Obi-Wan, thank you,” Ryan told him. He lunged again. “Watch and learn, young padawan.”

Title Loss of Innocence
Fandom Primeval
Characters Connor, Lyle
Rating PG
Word Count 100
Challenge #3 Determined
Summary Connor needs to learn something new

Connor took a deep breath and reloaded his gun, sending another target down to the bottom of the gun range.

Lyle helped him adjust his stance and then squeezed his shoulder before stepping back and letting Connor take the shots on his own. It broke his heart to see the innocent young man so determined to learn to shoot, but he understood the necessity. After Ryan and Stephen and Nick, he was determined to make sure Connor could defend himself if he had to. And Connor was determined to protect his friends, even if it meant learning how to kill.

Challenge #5 Forgotten
Summary Lester forgot - or maybe he simply chose not to remember.

The house was dark when Lester got home. Glancing into the dining room as he walked past he saw that the table was set, candles burnt almost down to nothing in their holders, the best china laid out with what looked like it had been a rather fancy meal, before it had got cold and started to congeal, and a vase with a single rose in the middle of the table. He winced and headed into the kitchen to check the calendar and see what he'd forgotten this time. Stuck to the fridge was a note.

'Happy Anniversary, James.'

Title Weird
Fandom Primeval
Characters Stephen

Word Count 100
Challenge #8 Forest of Dean
Summary Stephen has seen some weird things

Stephen had grown up on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean. He'd spent a lot of time hiking through or camping in it, especially when he was a cadet. It was a strange place with an atmosphere he'd never experienced anywhere else. He'd seen some odd things, things that he, like most of the locals, quietly acknowledged and then never spoke about again. The Civil War soldiers who had marched quite literally through his tent one night came to mind. He thought that the large extinct herbivore standing in front of him chewing the foliage took the prize though.

Title Learning Humility

Challenge #28 Humility
Summary Lester has a prisoner. Possible non-con (depending on your interpretation)

He circled the bound man like a shark, before pushing him so that he stumbled, dropping to one knee. Lester smirked and positioned himself in front of his prisoner, leaning back against his desk and spreading his legs slightly. His cock was making an unsightly bulge in his impeccably tailored trousers. Fortunately, he was in the perfect position for his toy to do something about that. It wouldn't be easy for him to open Lester's trousers with his hands tied behind his back, but that wasn't Lester's problem.

“I have a better use for your mouth than spouting sarcastic comments.”

Title Trust
Fandom Primeval
Characters Stephen, Lester
Rating U
Word Count 100
Challenge #7 Betrayal
Summary Lester is hurt by a lack of trust

Lester hung up the phone, a hurt look briefly crossing his face before it was replaced by his normal controlled expression. Stephen was going to hunt the prehistoric scorpion alone and wouldn't accept any help. For some reason he didn't trust Lester or his men and Lester had no idea why. Cutter's distrust had been easier to swallow – Cutter hadn't trusted anyone outside of his team. Stephen's distrust was more focussed, more personal.

Lester knew he wasn't exactly liked. He went out of his way to make sure people knew he wasn't nice. But he'd always thought he was trusted.

Title I'm not Her
Fandom Primeval
Characters Stephen/Nick
Rating 15
Word Count 100
Challenge #10 Claudia Who?
Summary Nick is an idiot. Stephen broods.

Stephen sat with his back against the headboard, looking at his sleeping companion. They'd had a good evening, with no emergencies to interrupt for once. They'd watched a film that he'd been wanting to see, enjoyed a good meal, and then retired to the bedroom for some fun. The sex had been incredible, as always, but then it had happened. Nick had called him by the wrong name.

He wrapped his arms around his knees as he brooded. He'd got used to being called Helen, although that hadn't happened for a while now, but he didn't even know a Claudia.

Title Surprise Party
Fandom Primeval
Characters Lester/Lyle
Rating PG
Word Count 100
Challenge #11 Surprise
Summary Lester is pleasently surprised

Lester had been surprised by the party, which, since it was a surprise party, was to be expected. But it wasn't the party itself that had surprised him – Lyle was surprisingly sentimental for a uniquely Lyle definition of sentimental anyway. It was the guests that surprised him.

The soldiers were to be expected, Lyle was their friend. But the main team were there and his secretary, the rest of the admin staff, most of the scientists and even some people he recognised as being on the cleaning staff. He was touched that they would all come to his birthday party.

Grr.. my PCs got a mind of it's own!

Unwelcome Visitor - Love Rex the musical lizard, and Becker's call to Nick.
News - mmm, Cutter in a kilt... yummy.
Moonlight - love the description of the stars.
Mess - *snort* I assume Rex doesn't really like Lester.. heehee.
Fencing - LOL over the Star Wars quotes, was that Connor doing lightsaber
impersonations?
Loss of Innocence - aww, hugs poor Connor. Yay for Lyle helping him.
End of a Marriage - oops. Not a good thing to forget.. bad James!
Weird - ghosts! love how nonplus Stephen is by the dino.

necessary in Lester's line of work than being liked is.
I'm Not Her - poor Stephen, called Helen, and now Claudia.
Surprise Party - aww. Love the bit about Lyle being sentiment in his unique Lyle way. Poor Lester, being surprised at people coming to his party.

lol at the first drabble! That's awesome that Lester would read Harry Potter! I wonder if he considers himself perfectly normal...

Haha of course Lester would be there to add insult to injury to poor Becker getting lost! I loved the line: "...with the navigational skills of a camel at the north pole." That is hilarious and sadly true!

"I'm sorry if it offends your sense of aesthetics, but it's architectural merits weren't on my list of priorities when I selected it." lol

I love "Unwelcome Visitor"! Leave it to Rex to freak Becker out by dancing to his music! Rex is so adorable!

And I definitely loved "Moonlight" as it made me immediately miss seeing the stars at night! Beautiful descriptions!

"Fencing" was adorable! I love how Ryan and Stringer were playing "Star Wars"! That was funny!

These were well-done and wonderful to read! Thank you for sharing them!
