Sarah knew she was different to the other girls in her class. She didn’t need their sneering and teasing to tell her that.

She didn’t need her parents’ tears, or the look in their eyes that told her she wasn’t the kind of daughter they had wanted.

She didn’t need her crotchety old boss demoting her just so he didn’t have to be around her anymore.

She didn’t need her crazy next door neighbour banging on her door yelling that she was going to hell.

Yes, Sarah knew she was different. But she didn’t know how to live with it.
