Knights of Legend Rarely Live
Thomas had heard many great stories about his dad. In his mum's bedtime stories, his dad fought evil companies and plastic monsters, and saved wounded animals in the rain forest. She sometimes told him about the monsters his dad had fought and how those monsters were the reason why he wasn't with them anymore.
Thomas believed his mum's stories. He had once overheard her yell at Uncle Nick that it was his fault. Thomas didn't want to think that was true, but sometimes, when Uncle Nick looked at him with his sad, old eyes, he thought it just might be.

Date: 2010-03-18 06:56 pm (UTC)Awesome drabble. It's so sad and vivid -- and a great use of the prompt.
One tiny Brit point, if you're interested -- it'd be mum and not mom.

Date: 2010-03-18 07:06 pm (UTC)Yeh~ I'd like Stephen to have a legacy. A skinny kid with icy blue eyes and dark brown hair that would look at you and ask you things about how the world works. And everyone who sees him would know whose kid he is. (Maybe he'd make the same face his dad used to when he has to eat Brussels sprouts. Maybe it's the way he leans back when he laughs. Maybe you'd see it when he brings home a hurt baby bird and demands you fix it.)
:( What a downer! I should've posted this when the sun was still up. *g*
Thanks for the lovely comment! ♥

Date: 2010-03-19 05:43 pm (UTC)Unless you have plot ideas? (An evil part, deep down, makes me want the boy to see a "strange woman" watch him and smile at him creepily. >_> Like maybe Helen switched a mini Stephen clone for Allison's baby in the hospital. :o Nooooo~ Can't have that! Shhh, let's forget about that. The kid's just Stephen's son. *shivers* He will definitely be Stephen's son... all fearless at the sight of danger. Even if it's just a spider in the bathtub.)

Date: 2010-03-19 06:14 pm (UTC)The bunnies will bite when they bite! And I'll have a think. Allison and Thomas have a lot of possibilities, especially if HELEN! is around!

Date: 2010-03-19 06:45 pm (UTC)I want to keep this nice and easy, though... and emotionally painful. *g* I'm sure we'll find something for them to experience that's worth a hundred words! I'm looking forward to the next prompt now.

Date: 2010-03-18 07:07 pm (UTC)In this case, I'm inclined to think Allison was really his girlfriend. :p Under... certain circumstances, she might be useful. *g*

Date: 2010-03-18 09:02 pm (UTC)(This story just had to get out when I saw that prompt. And even though it strays a bit from Denialland... I kind of want some more of that Allison now. :p)

Date: 2010-03-19 07:00 am (UTC)I don't know if I could write a long story with Thomas and Allison, but telling it in 100 words seemed doable. Especially with that awesome prompt. :)

Date: 2010-03-19 11:39 am (UTC)That's so sad, but lovely and emotive all at the same time... and now I'm picturing a mini-Stephen clone!

Date: 2010-03-19 12:01 pm (UTC)I know, right? He'd grow up to look just like his daddy, all lanky and swaggery and easy grace. And people would get flashbacks whenever he smirks or grins or makes a face at Brussels sprouts. ;__; It'd be so sad.
Thanks for the lovely comment! ♥

Date: 2010-03-19 05:53 pm (UTC)(A virologist who's spent a couple of years in the rain forest
and managed to bag Stephen Hart and keep him in a long distance relationship like that... imagine what a kick-ass character she would have to be! You could so easily make her believable and flawed and angry at the world. Imagine, she comes back, thinks she's done with her research, she wants to man up, stop running away and convince the elusive Mr Hart that now is a good time to start a family... and all she finds is his grave. ;__;)no subject

Date: 2010-04-03 07:01 am (UTC)This was really, really good. This kind of thing is a big fic button for me. You should so write more in this verse, drabbles or anything. :)
You should also write all the little ideas you had in the various comments. :D

Date: 2011-03-04 04:54 am (UTC)I wrote a sort of sequel and had to link to this entry here - and that's when I saw that I'd been amiss! I do like all the ideas that have come up here. Might tackle a few more, who knows!
Thank you for replying! (And sorry for not doing the same~ :/)

Date: 2011-03-04 04:52 am (UTC)I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it! It broke my heart a little, but since I live in Denialland this drabble here doesn't really exist anyway... *g*
