Challenge 152: Thunder & Lightning

Title: The Eye of the Storm
Author: Canadian Jay
Challenge: 152
Characters: Palliere (OC)
Genre: Drabble
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Not mine, never mine, no profit. Won't hurt them, either. Well. Not terribly much.
A/N: Palliere is from the Primeval tie-in novel, The Lost Island, by Paul Kearney.
Also: thunder & lightning makes me think of storms, storms make me think of the sea, the sea + Primeval only equals one thing in my mind: a certain dashing Frenchman. xP

The eye of the storm settles around them. An eerie silence descends. The howling wind stops battering her hull and the distant flickers of blue in the thick cloud wall seem unreal. But the waves still surge, La Gloire rising and falling beneath his feet.

The hair on the back of his neck starts to rise, and Palliere holds his breath. Whispered tales of disappearing ships. The Triangle's cursed waters. Stories only strengthened by the memory of swirling golden shards. The instruments spin, unfocused. As a rumble of thunder breaks the shell of silence, that remembered light floods the darkness.
