Connor didn't like this one bit. He looked from Stephen to Cutter and back. It was like watching a wildlife documentary. Right now Cutter had the upper hand, but Stephen looked like he was just taking a deep breath before striking back.

"Nothing's broken! It's not like-"

"You were reckless!"

There it was: the moment, Connor thought and interrupted. "You were both kind of-"

As expected, Cutter turned on him, finger pointing. "You stay out of it."

Stephen nodded. "Yeah. You stay out of it."

A common enemy, Connor thought, satisfied with himself. That was the secret to their partnership.
