Author’s note: My original primeval100 idea refused to be anything less than a double drabble. When I tried other ideas, I came up with this, which seemed to be the start of a brief (500 words) drabble series.

“Connor, I can’t believe you, of all people, would betray me!”
“Mr. Burton, Phillip…I didn’t!” Connor pleaded as he stared down the barrel of the gun. He saw no light at the end of that tunnel. “I figured out how to make New Dawn work, like you asked, but you hadn’t looked at the long term effects. You simply can’t switch it on. It destabilizes the fabric of space-time and causes the increase in anomaly activity that we believe leads to the dystopia we must prevent.”
“Nonsense, Connor. You must have miscalculated. Trust me.” Burton’s hand closed on the switch.
