James Lester recovered from his shock more slowly than he would have liked and unconciously touched his fingers to his lips.
"You kissed me."
With more bravado than he was feeling, Ryan replied, "I did. Very observant of you."
"But why?" Gone was the snarky civil servant, leaving behind someone who just looked and sounded bewildered.
"Because I've been dying to for ages."
"I don't understand."
"I want you, I think you want me and I'm really hoping you'll say yes to dinner at the very least."
"Oh."
Lester considered the idea for a moment. "Dinner?"
"Perfect. Thanks for asking."
