Life in the Pliocene was no picnic.

The days were long and dry, leaving him parched. The nights were even longer and colder, only a small fire providing him warmth.

He scrounged what edible vegetation he could find. When he was really lucky, he found a rat or other rodent to kill.

The worst part was the isolation. With no other intelligent life around him, he resorted to chatting with his walking stick.

But sometimes, when he stayed up to watch the sun paint the sky a myriad of colors over the pristine landscape, Danny found life was almost pleasant.
