Save for Later

Title: Save for Later
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Challenge: 296 – Leftovers
Characters/Pairing: Emily, Matt
Warnings/Spoilers: None

Emily didn't understand why Matt was so upset over her wanting to throw out the uneaten scraps of her lunch.

She didn't quite understand the concept of leftovers. Growing up in a wealthy household, any uneaten food was either thrown out or given to the dogs. But in Matt's world, edible food had been extremely scarce, causing people to fight for the measliest of crumbs.

Emily reconsidered her decision. "I suppose I could save this for later," she said before placing the bowl in the break room refrigerator.

Matt smiled in approval. "Just hope that Connor doesn’t find it first."

Nice one. Very vivid.

This really reflects their contrasting attitudes from their very different upbringings.

Nice use of the prompt - it shows the contrast in their backgrounds.

I wonder if Emily will quietly mention to Connor that it's in there so that she doesn't have to eat it? :-) Nice contrast between the two of them

Wow. Poor Matt.

Yes, they would have widely divergent views on things like this. Well done.

Nice look at their different backgrounds.

This is so Matt! Waste must be so painful for him.
(Aside - I did finish mine before reading/commenting - honest! - but we're definitely on the same lines this week. Ho hum, shuffle.)

Hee! Yes, I have a rule about not reading anyone else's P100s until I've done mine so I won't be influenced or downhearted by other people's brilliance! So I was 'Oh la la!' when I read yours. I did consider binning mine but didn't think I'd come up with an alternative in the time left. Interesting that while I don't think that Matt can be read as anything other than horrified by waste Emily feels equally valid either way. (We have have great minds as mentioned! :) )

Nice drabble. Very believable for both their viewpoints on leftover food.

I always like fics that show the differences between their sensibilities, really nice. And lol, Connor, he would be the one to eat other people's food. *g*
