Title: Barren

Cutter hated this place. It was barren, empty nothingness, where even the trees stood naked, not a leaf, nor berry to be found. If not for the energy bars they all carried in their kit, they'd have starved by now. In another couple of weeks, if they didn't find something they'd starve anyway.
Stephen never placed blame, never complained about the lack of food, the struggle for water, the clothes they were damaging or destroying as they scrambled over dry rock searching for relief.
Cutter hated this place, and he hated that it was his fault they were stuck here.
