"Oh the game never ends when your whole world depends on the turn of a friendly card."

Come on Jack! What’s it to be?” his friend asks impatiently.

To gamble, or not to gamble, that is the question.

The trouble is Jack never knows when enough is enough. He’s been here before; he could in theory make enough money to sort himself out; however, this time he could lose everything, including his sister’s beloved pet, Rex.

“I’ll see you and raise the lizard.” he replies.

Jack closes his eyes as the cards are revealed. Abby was going to kill him!

Becker sat alone nursing his drink. He could not believe it been a year already.

Normally anniversaries were happy occasions; time for celebrations with loved ones or friends. However, for Becker, this day, this anniversary was not a happy occasion. It was yet another reminder of his failure...his failure to protect his friends.

“It’s not your fault,”

Becker looked up, as his old boss, James Lester sat down opposite him with a pint.

“I miss them too,”

“A toast, to absent friends, Connor, Abby and Danny, may you stay safe wherever you are and come home to us one day,”

Connor always loved dinosaurs; in fact his earliest memory to do with dinosaurs was when he was six year old. He was given the part of a fierce Tyrannosaurus in his end of year school assembly.

Soon after, Connor became obsessed with them, he read reference books about them, bought magazines, put posters on his bedroom wall, and when his teachers asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up, he always gave the same answer, “I am going to work with dinosaurs,”

Little did Connor know, that one day, his job really would involve being with dinosaurs.
